Settling in
The first day, the first week and the boxes: a short list for the new place.
The first day
- Take meter readings and photos of them
- Check for anything damaged and tell us within 7 days
- Put the beds together first
- Find the stopcock and the fuse box
The first week
- Council tax at the new address
- Register with a GP and dentist
- Change your address with the bank, DVLA and insurers
- Register to vote
- Set up broadband and the TV licence
The boxes
- Flatten them as you go
- Ask us about box buy-back
- Pass good ones on to a neighbour who is moving
Make it home
- Change the locks
- Test the smoke alarms
- Meet the neighbours
